About the Journal

SICoM (Science Communication) is an international, open-access, peer-reviewed scholarly journal dedicated to advancing the theoretical and applied frontiers of communication science. The journal's primary mission is to disseminate high-impact, original research that critically examines the pivotal role of communication as a central mechanism for connecting, translating, and enriching knowledge across disciplinary boundaries. Its scope encompasses contemporary interdisciplinary themes, integrating perspectives from the Natural Sciences and Engineering such as public science engagement, risk and crisis communication, and the societal implications of emerging technologies (e.g., AI, biotechnology) with those from the Social Sciences and Humanities including strategic communication for policy, digital media ecosystems, intercultural dialogue, and critical discourse analysis. SICoM employs a thematic issue model, publishing six issues annually. The journal commenced publication with its inaugural issue on 6 January 2026.

As a progressive, multimedia-integrated publication, SICoM is committed to maximizing scholarly and societal impact. Beyond publishing conventional full-length research articles, the journal pioneers an integrated knowledge translation strategy, wherein each accepted study is also professionally rendered into accessible visual and digital formats. These include research summaries, graphical abstracts, infographics, and short explainer videos. This multi-format content is actively disseminated through a coordinated strategy across major academic and public digital platforms to bridge the gap between scholarly insight and public discourse, thereby enhancing science and social literacy. Submissions are welcomed on a continuous basis. Manuscripts must align precisely with the journal's aims and scope, be composed in scholarly English, and adhere rigorously to the author guidelines and manuscript template provided.
